The owners of this compact grade II listed cottage loved the house and town so much they were reluctant to move out to a bigger property even when they had a family but they needed to retain the third bedroom for visiting grandparents, so it was our task to redesign the remaining room to accommodate a young boy & girl.

We achieved this by creating a central room divider comprised of a pair of self contained bunk bed capsules (with internal shelving) and an array of storage.  This was supplemented by further fitted wardrobes and two desks/dressing tables.

The bunks are only accessible from their respective sides to maintain privacy but the room can still be used as a whole for the children to play together.

When the children reach their teens, a central door can easily be added to completely separate the two areas for total privacy.
